What is Gasm Travels?

I was searching for the right word that would best describe my travel experience and my feelings whenever i am planning a trip or visiting a new place….that ‘ahhhh’ feeling when something excites me every time i see new things….that ‘oohh’ feeling whenever i have satisfied my curiosity….that ‘wooow’ feeling whenever i am awestruck with a beautiful scenery in front of me….that kind of exhilarating feeling that i always get every time i am on the road or upon arrival to my destination.
The first word i came across was TRAVELGASM. Urban Dictionary defined it as getting excited to go on a trip. Example given was, “Omg, I’m going to Paris! I’m having a travelgasm! Wee!”  It does hit on that ‘exciting’ feeling but something is NOT right. There is something lacking to it. Yes i do get that ’ahhh’ and ‘ohhh’ and ‘woooow’ feelings every time i go on a trip. But there is more…..
I realized that it is not just traveling that gives me that ‘gasm’ feeling. In my travels, i also explore other things…like food, culture, arts and other adventures that give me the same kind of exhilarating feeling i get from traveling.
Hence, I also have foodgasm, artgasm, winegasm, eyegasm and any other ‘gasm’ feelings I experienced during my travel.  I have captured through my viewfinder all the things, places, nature, wildlife and moments with local people that brought back this ‘gasmic’ feelings of comfort and pleasure.
This blog will show you images from my travels that gave me these ‘gasmic’ feelings.  So please join me as i show you the world as i see it and get that unforgettable, exhilarating, elating, thrilling, breathtaking, stimulating, invigorating, enlivening ’gasm’ experience!

  20. Junsjazz

Hi Susan! I don’t know if you have seen it but I publish a digital magazine version of my blog Junsjazz Images & Inspiration of which five issues are already online. Its not a commercial magazine, just another online project of mine, an offshoot of my blogging. I plan to release the latest issue by end of February and I’d like to devote a spread for a guest photographer to showcase his/her works (probably 5 to 6 images). Some 12 photo bloggers have already been featured in the past three issues. I would be honored to have your amazing works presented in Issue #6, if it is alright with you. Of course there will be backlinks to your blog and full credit to you for all your works that may appear in the magazine. Here’s the link to my digital magazines: http://junsjazzimages.wordpress.com/digital-magazine/ I await your reply. Thanks!

    • Hi JJ, thank you for considering me to be featured in your lovely magazine…even before you sent me this message, i have already been reading your digital magazine since i followed your blog (and secretly hoping to be guest photographer someday…so now you know how happy you made me today 🙂 So yes, I would love to be part of your magazine! I have a few things i want to ask about the photos though.. like do i need to pattern it from your theme among others… However, i cant find your email address on your blog. Could you please send me an email at maedetera@gmail.com? Thank you a lot and just to let everyone know…i am a big fan of your artistry. 🙂

      • Junsjazz

Thanks for the green light Susan! No need to follow any theme, the pages for guest photographers are separate from the theme I follow for every issue. And no need to do anything on your part, I’ll just pick out 6 of your best photos from your blog (which is quite a task as you’ve got lots of great images from your world travels). One thing though, may I request a short write-up from you? Some 4 to 5 sentences about yourself, how you started in photography, what you look out for when taking pictures, something along those lines. Kindly email me the write-up at jazzmanjun@gmail.com. BTW, you’ll be featured together with 5 other women photo bloggers, each with their own magazine spread. Welcome aboard Issue #6! Thanks again Susan!

      • thanks JJ. will email you the write ups….

      • Junsjazz

Thanks Susan! I finished lay-outing your magazine pages and it looks great! I’ll just wait for the write-up, and its done with. happy weekend!

      • thanks… i cant wait to find out what photos you have chosen for your magazine…i will be sending you an email pretty soon…thanks a lot again for this great opportunity to showcase my art!

  24. I totally hear you. When I was 40 I took myself to Paris, spent a week, hopped a train to Avignon, rented a car and drove to a hilltop town that I had only ever dreamed of seeing after decades of poring over photographs in pretty, french picture books. And then, there I was! It, the whole experience, was beyond incredible and I found myself so frustrated with a lack of words that would begin to describe my feelings, I wanted a new vocabulary altogether!
Thank you for visiting my blog on ‘writing a memoir’. How did you come across it? I am new to it all and am curious how to get better found. Can’t wait to look you up on Pinterest, I too have boards there Pinterest.com/Loriparr11

Thanks for stopping by and “liking” my latest post. Never heard of a travelgasm. lol! I always think I want to travel, but the introvert in me freaks out whenever the prospect actually comes up. I’m more of a bookgasm girl, I guess.

    • I am also an introvert but the moment I started to come out of my comfort zone and travel, I have been hooked at it. It became addictive….you can start with out of town trips and see how it goes 🙂 thanks for coming back to my blog…
